ABOUT CELESTE

Y’all ever grapple with the anxiety of whether writing a bio in third person makes you sound pretentious? Yeah, uh, me neither.

Hi! I’m Celeste. I’m a writer, researcher, and part-time butterfly-raiser on a quest to unravel the mysteries of the universe. I live in New Orleans, but grew up in England and Australia. I have a chronic illness called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which limits me in many ways, but has also taught me many valuable lessons about bodies, boundaries, and self-advocacy. I’m also an alcoholic in recovery, a childhood trauma survivor, and a lucid dreamer. I’m passionate about learning, listening, and finding ways to heal in a world that increasingly seeks to keep us sick, detached, and divided.

I hold a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Edith Cowan University, and an MFA in Writing (with a focus in Poetry) from the University of New Orleans. I’ve worked as a teacher, editor, social media manager, tarot card reader, witch for hire, baker (short-lived - I dislike mornings), and courtroom transcriptionist. I love exploring the wilderness, raising caterpillars and plants, wandering the dreamscape, and moments of genuine connection. Faith, compassion, and fairness are some of my core values—oh, and beauty? Can beauty be a core value?

I think it can. I think it must be.

And I think when we strive for beauty—true beauty, that penetrates beyond the surface—we begin to heal.
